What a difference a decade makes.
With warm familiarity, I look around our facility, at this space that has become a second home to me.
And when I try to view it with fresh eyes, I can see a lot has changed. The relatively small space that we started with has grown and grown to accommodate our services. From where I stand, I can see the space we started with where we continue to deliver personal training. I can see the area we took over that nearly doubled our space and allows us to deliver our Small Group Training and our weekend offerings, the Flexibility and Core & Conditioning classes. And looking over my shoulder, I can see the addition where we built rooms specifically to deliver our Lifestyle Coaching. It’s been an insightful and wonderful journey.
Ten years ago, Scott and I were a couple of young men driven to fulfill our calling of helping people lead fitter, healthier lives. We started Columbia Strength and Conditioning with little plan other than to deliver the most cutting-edge training and nutrition to our clients.
And so, it began.
Those early days were long and rewarding. We spent our days training our clients, figuring out how to run a business, and learning from the best in the world. Working open to close was our standard. We kept our focus on our clients. We spent nearly every dime on continuing education – learning the best knowledge, techniques, and strategies from the best in our fields, and bringing it back to our community here in Columbia.
Those early days had their struggles and wins. It was both a challenging and fulfilling time in our lives. Scott and I both look back on those times fondly.
A decade of learning and experience is behind us now—countless hours of training and impacting members of our community. Innumerable certifications, seminars, consults under our belt. And invaluable relationships with the clients we’ve had the opportunity to serve.
“So much has changed - our approach, our team, our new location, and our clients - that the name “Columbia Strength and Conditioning” no longer encompasses what we do. We’ve grown so much more comprehensive than that name implies.”
— Nate Kesterson, Co-Founder
And so, we reflect with nostalgia in the past ten years, between starting CSC and the present day.
We’ve seen gaps in our profession and addressed them. We’ve developed and refined our perspective and philosophy on fitness. We’ve expanded our team. We’ve added services we’ve seen as necessities. We’ve been witness and participants in milestones of our clients’ lives. We’ve become a trusted resource our clients could rely on.
And on personal levels, the last decade has brought a few more mouths to feed to my family, and it has Scott wearing a ring on his finger.
The last ten years have been nothing short of fantastic.
Scott and I have gone from energetic, enthusiastic, business-naive young men to energetic, enthusiastic, and experienced business people who gratefully embrace the opportunity to work alongside our team of skilled professionals to better support our organization’s vision and serve our community.
So much has changed: Our approach, our team, our new location, and our clients. So much that the name “Columbia Strength and Conditioning” no longer encompasses what we do. We’ve grown so much more comprehensive than that name implies. So, with all the progress over the last decade, a name change was in order. I’m excited to introduce you to Evolved Personal training.
It’s the team, the culture, and the approach that you’ve come to trust with a name that better reflects our holistic approach —a new name for an organization that is the premier fitness destination in our area. We will continue to deliver the quality service you’ve come to expect from us, and we look forward to another decade of serving you and our community.
